Hardware for Peace racers at World Jet Boat Championships

Peace Region races won a bunch of medals at the World Jet Boat Championships.

Driver Tim Greber and navigator Brad Sandul took first in the A Class with their boat called Aquaholic.

Driver Steve Ford and navigator Merv Pidherny from Prince George won silver while another local race team, driver Darren Cage and navigator Riley Cage, won bronze.

Also, Rick Hollingworth and his Little Smokey craft finished second in the Unlimited Class. The overall winner from the US was first. Hollingworth is originally from Valleyview, but races out of Grande Prairie.

Peace Country drivers swept the top three spots in the FX class.

Peace River’s Tanner Froelich took first, followed by Grimshaw’s Gerald Gayton, and Grande Prairie’s Josh Becker. Gayton and Becker are in their first year racing jet boats.

Another Grande Prairie racer, Kelly Lock. took second in the CX class.

Whitecourt, Grande Prairie, and Taylor all hosted races over the weekend.

Besides Canada and the US, boats taking part came from Mexico and New Zealand.
